Sylvestrians triumph over Vidyartha

Sylvestrians triumph over Vidyartha

CT Sports: Manjula Perera's all-round performance together with a well constructed 60 by Thenuka Liyanage helped St. Sylvester's College Kandy to beat their traditional rivals Vidyartha College by seven wickets in their Battle of the Babes annual limited over cricket encounter for the Mediwake Trophy played at the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium yesterday.


St. Sylvester's also retained the Trophy for the 12th successive year. Pabasara Perera (3/12) and Manuja Perera (3/26) restricted Vidyartha to 143 for eight in 50 overs. Nimesh Senanayake scored 38 and Nipuna Kumarasiri scored an unbeaten 28. In their run chase Liyanagae scored 60 from 87 balls including a six and four boundaries while Perera scored an unbeaten 35 as St. Sylvester's went over the line for the loss of only three wickets in 33.4 overs.


Malith Premathilake scored an unbeaten 30 while Kasun Ekanayake claimed two wickets for Vidyartha.
