Tame draw at Matara

The 5th Battle of the Golden Lions Inter-School Big Match between the traditional rivals Dharmapala College Pannipitiya and Rahula College Matara ended in a draw at the Uyanwatte Stadium in Matara yesterday.


Rahula won the toss and elected to bat and they were bowled out 213 in 76.3 overs. In reply, Dharmapala were bowled out for 164 in 64.3 overs with Maheema Weerakoon scoring 55.
In the second innings, Rahula scored 106 for five in 37 overs.


Special Awards: Man of the Match - Piruna Hewamadduma (Rahula), Best Batsman - Piruna Hewamadduma (Rahula), Best Bowler -Hasindu Sankalpa (Rahula), Best Fielder - Maheema Weerakoon (Dharmpala).
Rahula: 213 in 76.3 overs and 106/5 in 37 overs (Yasiru Hewanandugala 37, Dinuka Madhushan 33, Chamindu Samarasinghe 3/32)
Dharmapala: 164 (61/3 o/n) in 64.3 overs (Maheema Weerakoon 55, Hasindu Sankalpa 3/25) and 32/2 in 2 overs. (IR)
